Fran Jones follows up her career-best win by battling through to ASB Classic quarter-finals in Auckland

We’re delighted to share some brilliant news about our patron Francesca Jones, who has made an outstanding start to her tournament at the ASB Classic in Auckland.

Fran secured the biggest win of her professional career in the opening round, defeating world number 15 Emma Navarro to claim her first-ever top-20 victory. It was a huge moment and a testament to her hard work, belief and determination on the international stage.

She followed this up with another impressive performance, battling past Austrian qualifier Sinja Kraus in three sets to reach the quarter-finals. The match wasn’t without its challenges — Fran struggled in the hot Auckland conditions and required a medical timeout — but she showed incredible resilience to regroup and fight back strongly.

Now ranked 72 in the world, Fran continues to defy the odds, having previously been told she would never play professional tennis. Her performances in Auckland are a powerful reminder of her strength, perseverance and unwavering commitment to the sport.

Fran is back on court tonight at 10.30pm UK time, where she will face Wang Xinyu for a place in the last four. We’ll be cheering her on every step of the way.
