Education

The ED Society are happy to help families obtain the correct care in school for their child and, if necessary, we will attend meetings with the family, school and Local Education Authority.

We can help by providing the necessary information to assist you when liaising with the Local Education Authorities, School Head Teacher and School Doctor/Nurse.

The ED Society have created a School Health Care Plan specifically relating to Ectodermal Dysplasia, which can be downloaded and amended to suit your child and their needs.

Please check out the School Health Care Plan page for more information.

We are also able to guide you through the Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) process, which will ensure your child has all the appropriate care needed whilst at school.

If your child is in secondary school, why not use our Student information card below which will help them when they are struggling in class.

Keeping Cool in Exams

As spring and summer approach many parents begin to worry about their child overheating in school, college or university and not focusing or concentrating properly, especially when it comes to the exam period.

School Health Care Plan

When your child is starting nursery or school for the first time or changing school, it is important that all staff (including meal time staff) are aware of Ectodermal Dysplasia and the impact it has on your child.

Sport and Temperature Control for Children

The lack of temperature control shouldn’t prevent a child from trying any type of exercise or sports activity. Although overheating can be difficult, or even dangerous, it is important to have a balanced approach.
