Current Women’s World Snooker Champion Reanne Evans teams up with The Ectodermal Dysplasia Society for tilt at the World Professional Championship.

UPDATE Monday 27th July 2020

We were all rooting for Reanne in her first match last week, but after being defeated, unfortunately she will not be continuing in the World Snooker Championship.

But all is not lost……Reanne will be looking to earn a place on the World Snooker Tour at Q School next month. Her first match against Ryan Cronin is due to get underway at 12:30pm on Monday 3 August

Once again, we are pleased to announce she will be proudly wearing the ED Society logo and continuing to help us raise awareness.

PRESS RELEASE

Monday 20th July 2020

Reanne Evans, from Dudley, is proud to announce she is teaming up with the Ectodermal Dysplasia Society during the World Snooker Championship, to try and bring awareness to the work of the Charity who are helping families affected by Ectodermal Dysplasia.

The Ectodermal Dysplasia Society is a charity based in Cheltenham, which relies solely on donations and fundraising. Monies raised enables them to help families affected by this disorder.

Ectodermal Dysplasia is a rare genetic condition affecting the teeth, skin, hair, sweat glands and many other parts of the body. The most dangerous and life threatening symptom is an absence or lack of sweat glands causing overheating or hypothermia. This is particularly dangerous for children because they cannot control their body temperature, overheat very easily to dangerous levels and may have seizures.

Reanne is a family friend of Taylor Atkiss, from Gornal, who is 7 years old and has the condition, so there is also a local connection to this partnership.

Reanne said –

“While I’ve been preparing for Sheffield I’ve been learning more and more about Ectodermal Dysplasia; the condition is very rare and there’s only around 500 families in the UK who are affected. I hope by my representing them in this event I will bring some more attention to the great work the charity does in supporting families and providing much needed information”

Reanne starts her quest for the title on Tuesday 21st at 1.30pm against Andy Hicks. The Qualifiers are being broadcast live by Eurosport.
